Keng Tong is the capital of Shan State (East ). It is situated in the Eastern part of Shan State. It’s area is about 12300 square miles. Its neighbors are China, Lao and Thailand. The title of Keng Tong is Khemarata Tungkapuri but now well known as Golden Triangle Region. It’s surrounded by Mountain and Hills. It’s also Called Keng Tong Valley. It is about 2710 feet above sea level. In the central of the town there is a lake called Naung Tong. The town was once surrounded by a brick wall and moat about 5 miles round but now it is disillusion, only one city gate is left. It is Par Leng Gate situated on the way to Lio Mwe Town. Keng Tong city town teems with genuine local atmosphere with colonial architecture mixing with Shan and Chinese buildings and narrow alleys winding through quiet neighbourhoods. A lake in the middle of town is circled by restaurants serving Shan Food, all of it over looked by a people by some of eastern Shan State’s numerous ethnic groups, including Akha, Eng (ann), Lahu, Palaung, Shan and Wa. They retain their traditional costumes and way of life.

Holidays to Myanmar

Holidays to Myanmar

Myanmar, perhaps better known as Burma, is one of the poorest but also one of the most fascinating and beautiful countries in Southeast Asia. There are two sides to this complex land. On one hand you have a country rich in natural resources offering incredible landscapes, some truly breath-taking man made edifices, like the temples at Bagan or the shimmering golden Shwedagon, and a warm and friendly people. On the other hand you have a country at odds with itself and the international community.
For decades Myanmar’s hard-line government has left the country isolated which in turn has restricted the country’s development to such an extent that holidays to Myanmar or a tour to Myanmar is like travelling back in time. How far back into the past you travel depends on where you choose to go. A visit to Yangon, compared to Bangkok, may only take you back 10 or 20 years but a visit to some of the more isolated hill tribes may seem like a voyage back to the Middle Ages! Despite Myanmar’s contradictions this is a wonderful land that is bound to surprise and delight you.
